On
5th June 1981 "Lawyer" Telugu weekly had been
started to fight a noble cause. To thwart the sinister
designs of some self seeking people to erect cinema halls on
the leased property belonging to kasturidevi Vidyalaya, Late
Sri Thunga Rajagopal Reddy brought into being the
"LAWYER". The "LAWYER" fought the battle
successfully and the constructions of cinema halls were
stopped.
Since that day till the present day for nerly three
decades "Lawyer" has been fighting against the
injustices in the society, informing its readers about the
misdeeds of corrupt Rulers, Politicians and Officeals.
"Lawyer" has been striving to maintain its
identity as a balanced, analytical and critical news
reporter without fear or favor.
"Lawyer" has been reflecting pulse of its readers
always honoring their sentiments, discharging its duty to
the society, completed 29 years of uninterrupted publication
and entering its 30th year on 5th June 2010.
"Lawyer" has the tradition of bringing out a
special annual number every year. It has the distinction of
bringing out special commemorative issues on illustrious
persons who brought laurels to the district, like Bezawada
Ramachandra Reddy, Nallapareddy Sreenivasulu Reddy, Magunta
Subbaramireddy, Bezawada Gopal Reddy etc.
Lawyer created history in the realm of regional news
magazines by successfully organizing a "Festival of
Readers" in 1997 and distributed prizes to its readers
who won in the lucky draw. This was "Lawyer's" way
of thanking it's loyal readers who had been the main stay
and source of immense strength behind the successful
publishing of this news weekly.
Lawyer had been always dynamic. Never afraid to change with
changing times, keeping up with emerging trends ahead of
others. "Lawyer" on many important occasions was
printed in multicolor to highlight the events.
"Lawyer" started publishing monthly supplements in
the form of books on various current tipics and subjects of
common interest. These book supplements were supplied to
readers without any extra cost. This is a bold experiment
which was proved to be highly successful.
Lawyer started catering to all sections of people covering
topics like politics, health, literature, agriculture, vastu,
and movies along with important current topics.
"Lawyer" started the tradition of honoring the
memory of its founder on 8th November every year. The
birthday of Late Sri Rajagopal Reddy is celebrated as "Thunga
Panduga". On this occasion "Lawyer" honors
it's staff that are the backbone of the paper and some of
the eminent people from the fields of Literature, Politics
and movies. Distributes scholarships to 10 meritorious and
Needs School Children.
"Lawyer" has been working towards achieving social
justice keeping aloft the ideals for which it was started.
