Thunga RajaGopal Reddy garuTunga Rajagopal Reddy is the only child of Smt. Rajeswaramma and Sri Tunga Sundararami Reddy who was a well-known freedom fighter hailing from Pedaputtedu village in Dagadarthi mandal of Nellore district. Rajagopal Reddy was born on 8th november, 1930 while his father was in jail for taking part in the freedom struggle. Most of his childhood was with his paternal uncle late Thunga Seshu Reddy. With the blessings of his uncle Seshu Reddy and in the company of Sri Thunga Venkata Ramana Reddy his cousin and his mentor, finished intermediate at Nellore and later joined Andhra Viswa Kala Parishath at Waltair to pursue his B.Com., Degree.

Sri Tunga Seshu Reddy, a Social worker and a Social Reformer in his own right kindled Social awareness in Rajagopal Reddy at a very early age. He developed a liking for cultural, social and literary issues. While he was a student at waltair he not only became a student leader, he started participating in cultural activities and took part in stage plays. His particular interest was Gireesam's role in the famous play of Gurajada "KANYASHULKAM" His role as Gireesam won him many accords.

He started his writing career by contributing to the college magazine. But noting in life went as planned. Rajagopal Reddy had to give-up studies due to some family problems and return to his native village Pedaputtedu to take over family's agricultural operations.

He married Sridevi of Kesavarapu family from Ethamukkala in present Prakasam district, on 16th October 1954 at Town Hall, Nellore as per Arya Samaj Rites.

After dabbling in hotel business he turned his attention to movie business. He dubbed two Tamil films into Telugu "Sthree Hridayam"and " Anumanam Penubhutham". After which he decided that film making was not his cup of tea. So went back to his native village.

In 1965 he took a plunge into politics. He was the only person in Nellore District at that time to have been elected unanimously as surpanch and he spent his time in the development of his native village, Pedaputtedu. He maintained and carried forward the tradition of village leadership. With his hard work and dynamism he befriended people of neighboring villages helping them solve their problems.

In 1970 he started his hotel business again and simultaneously took-up journalism. Due to his close association with Mr.L.V.Krishna Reddy, the then editor of "YOUTH CONGRESS", he started out as honorary editor of that weekly and started writing about the district politics and made a name for himself as an analytical journalist. After "YOUTH CONGRESS" moved to Hyderabad he worked as an honorary contributor to "INDIAN HERALD" on the request of its founder Thakur HariPrasad. He started his own Telugu Political weekly and name it "NAA SEEMA". During the emergency he wrote scathing criticism against government tyranny and he was awarded with a "BAN" on "NAA SEEMA".

In 1981 he started "LAWYER" Telugu news weekly to fight for historical cause and was successful. He was actively involved in Social and Cultural Societies working for their long-term progress. He was active in these fields till his last days. He helped produce many a prominent journalist of present day. He suddenly fell ill on March 26th 1989. He never fully recovered from his illness. But for nearly six years he never stopped writing. His pen did not lose its wit and bite. He was writing until three hours before his end. Though he left his village to pursue different carrier he never gave up agriculture. He was recognized as a very progressive farmer. All India Radio lived his views as a farmer many times in its programs.

Family Details:

Rajagopal Reddy had six children. The eldest son T. Siva PrsadReddy followed by Rajeswari, Malini, Nirupama Siva Prashanth Reddy and Siva Prabhath Reddy. Rajagopal Reddy had 10 Grand Children.

Last son Tunga Siva Prabhat Reddy followed in his father's footsteps and was helping in the publication of "LAWYER" weekly is now taken up the mantel and is the editor of the news weekly.

After fighting with his illness for about six years Rajagopal Reddy finally gave up on 18th January 1995 and his final abode.
